1. PRODUCT INFORMATION

1.1 What is FamilyEye?

FamilyEye is a parental control solution that allows smarter parenting by monitoring and managing your children’s activities straight from your mobile phone.

1.2 How does FamilyEye work?

The FamilyEye app safely controls your child’s device by blocking access to inappropriate internet content and tracks their whereabouts. Parents can customise the rules online or through the FamilyEye App using a “Parent” login.

1.3 What exactly can I monitor and manage?

Parents can monitor and manage the following:

  • Web Safety. Keep your child safe online. Set the rules on which websites your children can access and keep them away from inappropriate internet content.
  • App Safety. Block apps and games you don’t want to be running on your kids’ devices.
  • Device Safety. Control the camera feature on your child’s device
  • Location Tracking. Track their whereabouts and receive notifications when your child leaves or enters a safe area
  • Screen time limits - Limit the time a child can use on the device - this feature is coming soon
  • Bedtime - Set a bedtime so that kids can’t access their device - this feature is coming soon

1.4 What is the FamilyEye Dashboard?

Your FamilyEye Dashboard is your main interface for all parental control settings where you can monitor your child’s activities and location, see notifications, define parental control rules and setup alert zones. You can also manage your child’s account from your Dashboard like changing the PIN and adding a new child. Note: that there are some functionalities that are only available on the FamilyEye Dashboard and not on the FamilyEye app - for users setting up their account, please use the Dashboard (via web) as a first step.

1.5 What is the FamilyEye app?

The FamilyEye app is the key to your child’s protection. After you tell us how you want to protect your child through your FamilyEye Dashboard, we will apply those protection on your child’s device through the FamilyEye app. The FamilyEye app is responsible for filtering your child’s internet activities, sending location updates to you and managing which device features can be used by your child. That’s why you have to install the app on all devices that your children use.

1.6 What is Web Safety?

The Web Safety feature allows parents to ensure that children access appropriate internet content as configured by the parent. Websites are sorted into different web content categories to which access can be allowed or blocked. For more precise security, parents can also allow or block specific websites only. All this can be done through the FamilyEye Dashboard.

For example, if you choose to block your child from accessing websites related to gambling, your child will not be able to google “How to play poker” and other websites that relate to gambling.

3. TROUBLESHOOTING

3.1 My child’s location is not shown accurately

No worries, we just need to make sure that your child’s device is properly setup and calibrated.

3.1.1 Android Devices
  1. Check if Location is turned on. Swipe downwards from your notification bar and look for the Location icon.Turn it on by tapping on it. It will light up once it is turned on.
  2. Check the GPS’ accuracy. Go to your Settings and tap on Location. Tap on “Mode” or “Locating Method” and choose “High Accuracy”.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Isolate the issue. Open Google Maps and check your location as shown in there. If your location in there is also incorrect, we have to troubleshoot further. Otherwise, it has to be reported to our developers.
  5. Check the area. Being surrounded by tall buildings or being on the basement may cause the location to be a few meters off.
  6. Check your internet connection. Aside from your phone’s GPS, your phone also uses your internet connection to pinpoint where you are. Connecting to a Wi-Fi network provides a more accurate location than mobile data.
  7. Calibrate your phone’s compass. Open Google Maps app and move your phone into an 8 shape as shown below. Another way is to tilt your phone forward and back, move it side to side, and then tilt left and right for about 3 times each. Repeat until the blue dot moves to your actual location.
  8. Update your phone’s software. There are some instances when the error is caused by a bug on your phone which can be corrected by updating your phone with the latest software from your phone’s manufacturer.
3.1.2 iOS Devices
  1. Check if the Location Service is on on your child’s phone. There should be an icon that looks like an arrow on the status bar.
  2. Check if the FamilyEye app is permitted to use the Location Service. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure that Location Services and FamilyEye is set to While Using.
  3. Check your time. Make sure that you set the date, time, and time zone correctly on your device. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically. Even devices need a break. :)
  4. Restart your device. Make sure that cellular data or Wi-Fi is on and that you have an active connection.
  5. Isolate the issue. Open Google Maps and check your location as shown in there. If your location in there is also incorrect, we have to troubleshoot further. Otherwise, it has to be reported to our developers.
  6. Check the area. Being surrounded by tall buildings or being on the basement may cause the location to be a few meters off.
  7. Check your internet connection. Aside from your phone’s GPS, your phone also uses your internet connection to pinpoint where you are. Connecting to a Wi-Fi network provides a more accurate location than mobile data.
  8. Reset your Location Services settings. Just go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy then open the FamilyEye app on your child’s phone then tap on “Allow”
  9. Update your phone’s software. There are some instances when the error is caused by a bug on your phone which can be corrected by updating your phone with the latest software from your phone’s manufacturer.

There are several possible reasons why you can’t login.

  • Did you forget your password? Just click on the Forgot My Password link on the login window.
  • Is your Yomojo Mobile account still active? Did you port out recently? You need to have an active Yomojo Mobile service to take advantage of FamilyEye.
  • Is your internet working? Make sure that your data is turned on or that you are connected to the Wi-Fi
  • Are you able to log in from a different device and computer? It is possible that the device you are logging in from needs to be checked for possible technical issues.

Note that if you login incorrectly more than 3 times, your account will be locked for 15 minutes. You can try to login again after that or call us to help you unlock your account.

4.6 [HOW-TO] I want to delete my child’s profile.

Click on the “Cancel” button under Cancel service. You can continue to use FamilyEye until your account automatically closes at the end of your current billing period.

Your FamilyEye service will remain active until you request for that to be cancelled as well.
